The Bay Area’s own Pop Diva Maria Muldaur will perform live A Woman Alone with the Blues, fashioned around her 2003 tribute to jazz icon Peggy Lee. This time Maria will honor other Sultry Songresses as well . She will be bringing her hot band to the acoustically sweet Lark Theater for one night only. “Maria Muldaur's musical odyssey has taken her through many forms of American roots music. From her beginnings on the East Coast folk scene to her recent Black Top recordings that explored blues' Southern roots, Muldaur has brought vibrant sensuality and passion to each story she's sung. Now, she explores the relationship between her steamy vocals and elegant jazz arrangements” -Art Tipaldi, Blues Revue. On this disc saluting Peggy Lee, the acolyte appears to be a stronger and more passionate singer than the lady she is trying to honor. With smoky and sensual tones, highlighted with just a teaspoonful of gravel and letter-perfect phrasing, Muldaur is more Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan than Peggy Lee. This is a rare treat, exposing the jazz talents of someone pigeonholed as a rock-pop stalwart, and it allows new jazz converts to be made from old fans who pick up the CD - Larry Robert The Blade: Toledo, Ohio “A sultry and soulful lady of the blues her ownself, Maria Muldaur pays homage to the legendary peggy lee, delivering a new CD destined to become a classic in its own right. From a stellar rendition of Lee’s signature “Fever” to the sassy “I’m Gonna Go Fishin,” Muldaur doesn’t miss a lick or a trick in her reprisal of Peggy Lee’s best numbers. This is one collection that definitely sets the mood for a hot summer night! - Dispatch: Des Moines, ILDanny Caron – Guitar
