The Edge Jelly Jam |

THE EDGE 2009 Here are a couple of tunes.. Surf's Up / Heart Beat The band originiated in the ‘80’s at Stinson Beach as The Average Beach Band and soon began packing the clubs in the Bay Area as The Edge. Their infamous ‘Uncle Charlie’ club shows are still fondly remembered today by many fans. Currently, lead singer/guitarists Lorin Rowan and Jimmy Dillon, both have their own solo careers. Lorin performs nationally with his brother Chris as ‘The Rowan Brothers. His song “Soldier of the Cross” is the title track of country artist, Ricky Skaggs’ Grammy winning CD. Jimmy’s toured Europe over the last several years with his blues rock band, and now recently started a music camp for kids called ‘Blue Star Music’. On keyboards, Ozzie Ahlers has had Grammy winning success as co-writer and producer with original Jefferson Starship guitarist, Craig Chaquico. Jelly Marin County has produced another good one! “Jelly jams with upbeat folk rock, grooves with soulful ballads and is quickly becoming a favorite among North Bay music aficionados” says Sean Smith of Bill Graham Presents. Jelly is tasteful, poignant, humorous, and captivating as they deliver on the blues, American traditionals, shuffles, ballads and slightly demented love songs. A Jelly show combines original compositions along with unique arrangements of several well known artists and other not so well known ones. “You guys are really good and fun as hell to play with!”- Bobby Weir To buy tickets |

| Although they’ve only recently been getting widespread attention, Jackie Payne and Steve Edmonson have a history together that goes back almost ten years. They first met when they were members of the popular show band, The Dynatones. They soon found that they had a common love for the blues. While touring together they developed a friendship and camaraderie that is clearly evident when you see them perform together. You can hear their common love for the music in every note that Jackie & Steve sing and play.
In addition to being gifted musicians, Jackie and Steve understand the art of performance in a way that few of today’s artists do. Jackie doesn’t just sing, he entertains. Jackie’s show can easily match the fervor and intensity of a fire and brimstone gospel revival. As Steve says, “In Jackie’s voice you can hear echoes of O.V. Wright, James Brown and Wilson Pickett, as well as Muddy Waters, Junior Parker, Bobby Blue Bland and Little Johnny Taylor, not so much because he has imitated them, but because he is one of them. Once you have seen him perform it’s easy to understand that Jackie Payne is the real deal!” There is no doubt that Jackie is truly one of the greatest living blues singers and deserves to be included in the pantheon of all time greats mentioned above.
